The Jusu Bar Story

Posted by Katherine Gillard on

We believe that simple dietary changes can radically change our lives for the better. But how did we get here?

JUSU Bar was launched in 2014 by founder Bruce Mullen with a mission to inspire and motivate people to take health and wellness into their own hands.

In 2011, Bruce’s wife, at age 48, was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. During her treatment they began the process of removing products with carcinogens and toxins from their home and replacing them with natural alternatives. Soon after they started this process, they realized toxins were in all kinds of products: from the shampoo they used, to their cleaning products, to their food, there were toxins everywhere.

One thing became very clear for their family: chemically processed products damages the immune system, and many common foods and household products are laden with chemicals and toxins.

After his wife lost her battle with cancer just ten months later, Bruce dedicated himself to helping people take control of their own health and wellness. Bruce knew that dietary choices affect how we feel, our immunity, and our overall health and vitality. With that in mind, he opened the first JUSU Bar in Victoria in November 2014.

Before long, JUSU had a dedicated community participating in conversations about nutrition and health. The result has been an expanded menu of cold-pressed juices as well as a full line of natural skin, hair, bath, and cleaning products.

JUSU Bar now has a location in Victoria, as well as juice delivery locations in Vancouver and Calgary, with plans for expansion in other cities.

Throughout it all, JUSU’s founding mission has remained the same: Take control of your own health and wellness by making better food choices. It will awaken your cells and energize your life.
